Period of Orientation:
Orientation is a time for determining a person’s interest, eligibility and disposition to enter into the initial formation process. This period consists of no less than 3 months.
Period of Initial Formation:
- Inquiry: The time of Inquiry, which begins with the Ceremony of Introduction and Welcoming Ritual, consists of no less than 6 months.
- Candidacy: The time of Candidacy, which begins with the Rite of Admission, consists of no less than 18 months and no more than 36 months. All persons in Initial Formation, in addition to attending their formation sessions, must participate in the gatherings of the Local Fraternity as this is an indispensable presupposition for initiation into the community prayer and into fraternity life.
After the period of Initial Formation, with the consent of the Fraternity Council, the candidates are admitted to Profession. Profession is a promise to God and the Church to live according to the inspiration of St. Francis as contained in the Secular Franciscan Rule.
